My favorite moment was bringing my mother, grandmother, and great grandmother here and seeing them all get high on your delicious margaritas!
Great Moment@Los Gringos Locos
For the last two years, on “Cinco de Mayo”, we have been here to celebrate our meeting day. This year was our 15th, and Martin always makes sure we have a great time (I think its because he wants my younger sister) but never the less we enjoy it… Very much… Thanks to Martin.

I was eating at Los Gringos for the first time and couldn’t decide what to order. Being from Texas, I ma a Mexican food snob, considering TexMex the best there was. I asked our waiter, Oscar, to suggest what to order. He brought out the chile reheno en hogado and the green corn tamale. They were fabulous. Something to dream about and return for often. I will need to amend my TexMex snobbery to include your chili ReHenos and Tamales.

Los Gringos has been one of our favorite places for many years. I lived in La Canada up until the last couple years. I was able to reunite with my very best friend since I was three years old. I am now in my 50’s. We enjoyed your fabulous margaritas, shared sentimental stories, laughed and enjoyed our great meal. We will definitely come back again to share our special stories and memories. Oscar made us feel welcome and special. He brought a smile to our faces.

So it was about three years ago and my family was here with my cousin and her husband. My cousin’s husband is about 6’4” and 250 lbs. and is a pro rugby player; So my dad was telling him about the big bertha and how he should try it, so he laughed and was claiming he could eat it, so he and my dad order Big Berthas and the huge rugby player only got half of it done while my dad, who is 5’7” and 170 lbs ate the whole thing, and has his picture on the wall. So we all laughed at my cousin’s husband for being a wuss and not being able to finish it. Now, every time they change the wall of the Bertha, my Dad eats one just to keep himself on the wall.

We were here for dinner on your opening night. Remembering Bent and also our first server – Joy – who also has served us up in your Santa Clarita restaurant (before she moved to Utah). We have always enjoyed greeting Oscar and being served by Alberto (or Carlos, if Alberto is not here).
When my daughter’s God Mother was visiting from Sacramento a while back, she phoned me to see if we could meet her (and her sister) at their favorite restaurant in La Canada, and I said “Fine,” and she said, “We always go to Los Gringos because the food is so good and the service is great and the atmosphere is wonderful!” I said, “That’s our favorite restaurant also.”
We met them here, and they were already in the bar section being served by their favorite server Alberto, so it was a great reunion with much food and celebration.
So you see – your fame is wide-spread because your fans from Sacramento drive down to have dinner at their favorite restaurant – Los Gringos Locos.

I celebrated my 50th birthday with 30 friends on the rainiest Rose Parade last year here at Los Gringos Locos.
Friendship, good food, pitchers of margaritas and old stories warmed us up and made up for the cold wet morning. Thanks to Angel and Martin, and the Los Gringos Family.

My name is Dyland Crane. I was 14 when I got cancer (two years ago). When I got sick my Mom asked me if I wanted my favorite food, and I said that I wanted Los Gringos Locos. So my friend brought my favorite food to the hospital – an adult bean and cheese burrito (there is healing power in that burrito!). Ever since then Carlos and Alberto have asked my family how I was feeling.

Several years ago my husband of 60 years was to celebrate his 80th birthday. He was not in good health and we knew this had to be something very special.
We decided to have a “Fiesta Party” in our back garden and invite his close friends. So, a Fiesta Party was arranged with catering by Los Gringos Locos.
Invitations said “Sombreros optional” and just about everyone came wearing something colorful and “Mexicanish”.
Los Gringos brought red, green and yellow table-cloths with sombrero centerpieces, silverware, plates, napkins and glassware. And, the best part of all – served and did a fine clean-up job afterwards. What a delightful, easy way to entertain and really enjoy your party!
It was all beautifully presented and served and with Mariachi music as suggested by Los Gringos Locos. It was a very special party at a very special time. We thank Los Gringos Locos for unforgettable, happy memories.

My most memorable moment is when Carlos was our Waiter and we happened to see him elsewhere singing karaoke. Since then we love to joke around with him. So whenever we come in we always have a smile on our faces because we think of Carlos.

My “great moment” is watching them make the guacamole. When they mix it up, it sounds like a horse. I like eating it with the yummy chips. Los Gringos Locos guac is my favorite because it’s the only kind I’ve tried! I also really like to draw on the kids menu. Los Gringos Locos is my favorite restaurant!

Roger Barkley was my neighbor for about 20 years. His 2 children, Chris and Angie, were in my wedding.
Los Gringos was special to the Barkleys and to our family, too. My brother’s family has catered Los Gringos for two graduations!
The food is good – The people are fun to be with. It is a cool place to hang out! I love it here and come from Phoenix two or three times a year and Los Gringos is a must.

The “Great Moment” at Los Gringos I would like to share happened early in the history of Los Gringos. When my son played in the local youth baseball, not once, but twice was his photo displayed on the Big Bertha wall of Fame for completing the Big Bertha. Both times he was cheered on by his teammates as he packed away every last bite! The pictures of him in the giant sombrero are probably long gone from your photo albums, but the memory of this mere 11 year old youth will stay with me forever. Matthew is now off to college and still recalls his Big Bertha feasts.

Los Gringos is awesome! One of the most wonderful memories happened right here. My uncle Greg is my biggest role model. He is handy, honorable, and just a plain great guy. The only catch is, he’s never around! He’s always away being a fireman or in the Navy! Finally he came back from Iraq and I invited him to a special lunch, just the two of us. I knew Los Gringos was the best place to go because the food is great, it’s a loud, friendly atmosphere, but not too loud to have a quiet conversation. Finally he was here! It was the most wonderful lunch I’ve ever had. We talked, laughed, and bonded like we saw each other every day. Now we’re really close because we both were able to open up over the fantastic food and great service!

Well, I have never actually been inside of Los Gringos, but my wonderful daddy brings my mommy and I food to go a lot. I am a dog w/ cancer and I do remember when my dad and his friend took me and my friend Indy to the park for an annual Thanksgiving Day soccer game! All of the people were very nice, and that Indy, well he is a hyper dog!

My son and I have been coming to Los Gringos for “Monday Night Football” almost faithfully for the last three years – it’s a special time for us and there are many other regulars that night – a great sense of community when you come to Los Gringos!

Great Moment@Los Gringos Locos
I have a special connection with Los Gringos because I was told I was the youngest to eat a Big Bertha burrito. I was 12 years old at the time and a pretty chunky kid. I thought I would try it so I did. It took a real long time. I went to the bathroom probably two times during the ordeal. That is my fondest memory of Los Gringos.

Great Moment@Los Gringos Locos
It all started with two full bladders and one lady’s room. My best friend in the entire world named Carly had on a regular sweat shirt and jeans with no pockets so the only place she could put her cell phone was her huge sweatshirt pocket. So the both of us went to the bathroom after a good number of root beers and she went first. As I was waiting outside and Nature was screaming at me I heard yelling and the door flung open and Carly frantically yelled at me “I just flushed my phone down the toilet!”
Carly told me to stay by the bathroom and make sure nobody used it. As I waited by the bathroom having to go REALLY bad she was sobbing and told our Moms and Martin. Martin ran in the back, grabbed the plunger and sprinted to the lady’s room. That night he was my hero because when he came I darted into the Men’s restroom and was saved.
Meanwhile Carly, sobbing, and our mothers were watching Martin plunge away at the toilet. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the phone but instead we got some Ben and Jerry’s, rented Wedding Crashers and had a girl’s night in my pool house to help ease the pain for Carly.
Although we never got back the phone or our intake of Calories we gained something better. Memories! Without Los Gringos Locos this hilarious night would have never happened and lots of great conversations would have never been started. Carly now has a newer, better phone which will break one day but we will always have the memories of that one unforgettable night.

As we often did, several members of our faculty came to Los Gringos to have a Margarita after school on Monday. On this particular day there was quite a big group of us. Several orders (pitchers) of margaritas were ordered. One by one the group dwindled. There I was, with a lot of margarita left. Could it go to waste? Absolutely not! I tried my best, but alas, I couldn’t finish. Yes, I got home safely!

For a long time I had waited for Los Gringos Locos to serve an enchilada mole. They served it once on a special menu for the day, but then it was gone…
My great moment came when I saw they had added this delicious entre to their regular menu!!!
Forever satisfied now!!

Approximately ten years ago, myself and four friends had dinner at Los Gringos Locos. When I went to pay the bill, I could not locate my wallet in my jacket. I thought I may have dropped the wallet on the floor. The female owner brought out all employees and questioned them in front of me. All denied knowledge of the wallet. After arriving home I inspected my jacket again and found the wallet in an obscure pocket.
I returned to Los Gringos and asked for an audience with all employees. At that time I apologized for any embarrassment I may have caused them and I admitted to my own carelessness. I asked that they still consider me a “worthy” customer.

It was my husband’s 45th birthday weekend and we were planning a party on Saturday night. We had agreed that all day Saturday would be spent getting the yard and house ready for guests. On Friday, I asked him last minute if he wanted to go to Disneyland so we could get an early start in the morning. (He calls Los Gringos his “Disneyland”)
So, we arrived, and as a surprise, a friend had flown in from Arizona, another friend picked him up, and they had been waiting for us (all planned ahead of time) as a surprise for my Eric. I think one of our friends had five double margaritas that night (a personal record). I told my husband that there would be no work on Saturday because I had a tee time for him at 7:00 AM. He said he didn’t know which he loved more… Disneyland or me! That’s one of my favorite memories here!

I can’t remember the first time I came to Los Gringos. I go every Tuesday with my family and friends, to rapido’s, and on Friday to Los Gringos Loco’s with my Grand Parents.
Every Friday I order something so tricky nobody but one waiter can get my order right, and that is “Alberto” (we get him every time).
Once when he was gone I tried to order my usual with a “Sub waitress,” even she couldn’t get it right! Every time my food order gets trickier and trickier to remember. But Alberto never misses.
Coming to Los Gringos has been a thing to look forward to twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday OR whenever else I get the chance.

Every time we go to Los Gringos is a great moment. We know that we will be greeted with a smile and that Julie, our server, will have our drinks out to us before we have ordered. On taco Tuesdays, Julie knows exactly what we all order and it’s out before we’ve emptied a basket of chips.
It’s nice to know that there is still a place where there is little staff turn around and great service.

I have had many great moments at Los Gringos for about ten years. About every other month we have a girl’s dinner out. But my best time was about four years ago. My 42 year old son and his girlfriend brought me here for Mothers’ Day and he thanked me for all the good years he had as a child. I also came here with my other son and daughter so I love Los Gringos Locos.

Back in August ’05 I cam here for the 1st time. My girlfriend at that time brought me here. We had already had a wonderful date and we ended it w/ your guacamole and chips and two great margaritas. That date was one of the dates that helped me decide that my girlfriend would be my wife…
Thanks Los Gringos Locos for your hospitality and great food!

Came to Gringos in ’01 to celebrate the purchase of a new Porche Turbo. Parked in front of a neighbor’s house; he saw us and didn’t respond to our satisfaction… I got worried and verbalized my fear to my wife that this neighbor was likely going to water my/our brand new, pristine vehicle (in spite)!
My wife labeled me paranoid. Alex, our waiter, laughed and said I was correct – the same neighbor was not tolerant of Gringos staff or customers.
Needless to say, Alex was correct; the neighbor watered the Porche. What a grump.

The greatest moment at Los Gringos Locos has been meeting all of my “novios” on staff… especially Matea and Jay! J…

It was taco Tuesday when my friend and I decided to eat the Big Bertha. When the burrito arrived at our table I knew I was in way over my head but I decided that I was going to eat it all. What started out a little snacky turned to one hilarious time. With the waiters cheering us on and the mess from all of the dirty napkins everywhere, by the time I finished the Bertha it was truly a great moment!

While friends and I dined and Shared stories of Life and friends we became aware of a buzz among us.
We named him Pepe Gringos and after fishing him out of the strawberry margarita he flew off in a rather drunk fashion. He is now our official margarita tester “Pepe Gringos” (aka “The Fly”).

I came in with my friend Greg after a day of Frisbee golf in the hot, July Sun. We were parched. I was bitter from defeat. We stopped at the liquor store a few stores over to look at their golf discs. Greg said he wanted lunch at a Mexican place he knew nearby – we were shocked to find the restaurant just a few shops away from the liquor store.
My stomach was filled; my thirst was quenched; my bitterness from the loss melted in the spice of your salsa.

My friends and I brought my boyfriend’s little sister on her 21st birthday... she ordered a margarita before eating anything… big mistake!
She got drunk quite quickly and decided she was hungry. She ordered a quesadilla and proceeded to tell the waiter – “Just cheese, only cheese, nothing but cheese, I only want cheese, cheese and nothing else.” At which point I turned to the waiter and said in probably a very bad accent, “Solamente Queso.” Ever since then that is what we call her, and everywhere we go when she is about to order we all yell “Solamente Queso!”

I do not have a favorite “moment” at Los Gringos Locos, but what I do have is the certainty of knowing that whenever I come in I will have a good time with friends and I can rely on that every single time. This is the only Mexican restaurant I go to for that reason alone.

Los Gringos Locos was one of the reasons we moved from New Jersey to California three years ago. My brother, who lives in La Canada, took us here when you first opened. We were here on a vacation. The food was fabulous! For us, California and Los Gringos Locos’ fabulous food were forever intertwined! We dragged my brother and his family here on every CA visit for more great food. And when we had a chance to work at JPL (so very close to Los Gringos Locos) we took it. Of course we ate here on our house hunting trip and now we come here at least once a week. Thanks for being there for use.

Los Gringos regulars look back fondly upon one of the restaurants greatest eras, when the “Guacamole Guy” reigned.
Christians Hansen became “Guacamole Guy” each time he donned his swim goggles before he prepared guacamole tableside for eager customers. Some say the goggles made this erstwhile water polo player more comfortable in a high-pressure situation, and others say he was protecting his delicate eyes from the onion vapors.
But the cognoscenti know that “Guacamole Guy” was just another L.A. fashionista. He left for a temporary tour to South Korea, but we’re all hoping he’ll return someday to spread his fashion sense and fine guacamole to future customers.

On a blustery Taco Tuesday my friend Greg Dow attempted to drink an entire bottle of hot sauce. He made it nearly but stopped 2/3’s of the way. He then produced more sweat in five minute than he has in a lifetime. P.S. His eyelids were sweating! NASTY!

My family and I lived over the hill in Glendale near the Chevy Chase Country Club for 27 years, and we were regulars. We always brought visiting friends here to show off our local delicious Mexican food hang out. When we sold the house, we our sorrow to Los Gringos the day we left to soothe our heads, hearts, and stomachs. We shared memories and margaritas and ended up laughing our sadness away! Thank you Los Gringos.
